Fremo US in Kolding 2012

(click on the picture for a larger version)

This is the first time that we have participated in a FREMO meeting. The FREMO club I Denmark was hosts to several clubs that came to the annual Kolding FREMO meet. Two halls consisting of 800 square meters each were provided so that one US and one European layout could be built.

Modules from Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Germany enhanced the 2 halls, thereby providing picture perfect and fascinating layouts. The US layout consisted of 260 meters of modules; this created an exciting and stimulating model railroad which provided traffic games until the late hours of each day. The module meeting lasted for 4 days.

The first module section, in the US hall, was represented by the Northwest portion of the US and used CSX as its mainline (most modules provided by the German clubs). The next section was the Midwest which had BNSF as it’s mainline (most modules provided by the Danish clubs). Thirdly we had the Southwest which used UP as it’s mainline (this sections modules were provided mostly by the Swedish club USMS).

Below you’ll find a few pictures showing the various portions of the US FREMO layout. Photos by Seth Olofsson and Roland Levin if nothing else is noted.

Modesto is now also handling containers and trailers

A module as it looks when it is set up for operations with shelf for throttles, holders for car cards and waybills and a shelf for pens and other items. Every station has a sign with the name to make it easy for everybody to see it's location.

A UP mixed freight with container and trailers passing through Tower Junction heading east. About 30 trains passed through this crossing every day during the operations.

We were not the only ones working on the layout during the meeting
